What that responsibility actually involves
Every factual claim published on this site passes through a register before it can appear in prose. Each entry records the source, the exact passage the claim was drawn from, the date it was captured and the date it must be re-checked.
Andrew reviews each of those entries against its source and signs off on it by name. The site’s build refuses to compile a page that cites an unsigned, disputed or expired claim, so that step cannot be skipped when there is a deadline.
Where AI tools are used for research and drafting — and they are, which the editorial policy states plainly — that review is the step that makes the output publishable.
The basis of the recommendations
Not personal authority. The recommendations on this site rest on published sources: NSF and ANSI standard scopes, EPA Consumer Confidence Report data, USGS hardness data, and manufacturer specifications — combined by arithmetic that is shown on the page rather than asserted.
That is deliberate. It means you do not have to take anyone’s word for it. If you disagree with a recommendation, you can see which input or which step you disagree with, and check it against the same public source we used.
Corrections
Errors reported to hello@waterspeclab.com are corrected within 48 hours of verification, with a visible note on the page where the correction is material.
